NASA Earth Science, GLOBE, ICESat-2…and YOU!

The event, held on Friday, June 14 focused on NASA’s role in studying our home planet, Earth! Beginning at 10:30 a.m., participants heard from special guest, Brian Campbell, a NASA Senior Earth Science Specialist, ICESat-2 Mission Education Lead, and Subject Matter Expert, about current NASA Earth Science missions like ICESat-2 and how you can become a citizen scientist with The GLOBE Program.

 

The schedule:

10:30 - 11:00 a.m. – Auditorium presentation "NASA Earth Science, GLOBE, ICESat-2…and YOU!"

11:00 a.m. - Noon – ICESat-2 exhibit demonstration

Noon - 12:30 p.m. – GLOBE Observer App outdoor demonstration on tree height and land cover observations

12:30 -1:00 p.m. – Question & Answer session

 

To prepare for the outdoor demonstration, participants downloaded the free GLOBE Observer App and registered via an email address prior to arrival. To get the app, participants were directed to go to https://go.nasa.gov/4bXGz3M.

There were approximately 300 participants, including students, educators, researchers, families, and the general public in attendance.
